Another January has come around, which means our holiday groups are in full swing! In the last 10 days we have had all age ranges walk through the door: pre-schoolers learning school readiness skills before they transition to kindy in a few weeks, school-aged kiddies developing their handwriting skills, and teenagers working on social and life skills.
Since introducing longer duration groups (school readiness is total 12 hours across 4 days, handwriting group a total of 15 hours across 3 days, and Big Kids groups 10 hours across 2 days) we have had positive feedback from parents as it allows them some respite/holiday care while providing intensive therapy and activities for the kids.
Another beauty of holiday groups is meeting new people and it has been wonderful to see new friendships form and grow during the week. There has been a lot of laughter and enjoyment when engaging in group activities and games.
There was plenty of fun but also lots of focus and development of skills: team work to build obstacle courses, craft, writing stories and silly sentences, playdough making, and baking!
