Pia Cabello Ibarra(Occupational Therapist)Degree in Science of Occupation /Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy, University Mayor in Santiago, Chile Pía is an Occupational Therapist with over 15 years of experience supporting children and families across Chile and Australia. She specialises in sensory integration, using a neurodiversity-affirming approach with play as her primary tool. She believes in Sensory Integration, developed by Dr. A. Jean Ayres, because it helps children understand their bodies and emotions, supports learning, and promotes meaningful participation in daily life. Through playful, evidence-based strategies, therapy enhances the brain’s ability to process sensory information, making learning, play, and daily activities more enjoyable. Family and community are central to Pía’s life and work. She believes lasting progress occurs when families feel supported and empowered, collaborating closely with parents, teachers, and other professionals to create safe spaces where children can thrive. Pía’s motivation to learn English was driven by her desire to access the latest research in sensory integration and autism, enabling her to grow professionally and better support children and families. She originally chose Australia for the kangaroos and koalas, but it quickly became a place where she could grow personally and professionally. This year, she completed training in the Evaluation in Ayres Sensory Integration (EASI) with her long-time professional inspiration and is now working towards certification to administer this assessment. Today, she feels proud to be completing her full registration with AHPRA as an Occupational Therapist in Australia, in collaboration with Kids First Therapy Hub. Outside of work, she enjoys yoga, exploring nature, visiting her nephew, cooking healthy meals, and playing pool. If you would like to hablar en español or share a recipe, she would be delighted to hear from you. | ![]() |
